Making a clay bowl

For youth grades 3 - 6.



This beginner class will give an overview of basic clay techniques of hand building, slab, coil and pinch pot.  Students will learn to use tools for hand building sprig molds, rollers, texture tools, and how to create slip. The class will learn about the process of creating in clay from wet clay, leather hard, bone dry green ware, bisque fired, and finally glaze fired. 



 Project #1 Luminaria, Project #2 Coil bowl, Project # 3  Coffee mug. 



The last three classes will be spent glazing projects , that have been bisque fired. Using 3-7 colors of glaze and applying two coats of glaze over each color with a final coat of clear glaze they will complete their project. Students will be able to pick up their finished projects from the town hall the following week after class is over.
